A 60 year anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Assignment - Every human being is concerned by all human rights and their consequences.
They refer to tangible real-life situations and reflect the complexity of human existence
everywhere and in many ways. For the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights, ART for The World Europa and NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti - Milano,
under the patronage of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and of
the Italian Ministry of University and Research have decided to promote an international poster
competition.

In samenwerking met Ferry en Thom hebben wij een serie van 3 posters gemaakt die hetzelfde verhaal vertellen. In het lijnenpatroon zit een tekst verstopt die je alleen goed van afstand kan lezen. Er staat If you can't be safe, If you can't believe en if you can't speak up. In het klein staat dan rechtsonderin 'Ever thought about that'. Wij hebben hiermee aan willen geven dat vrijheid van meningsuiting, onveiligheid en vrijheid van geloof hier in het westen vanzelfsprekend zijn, maar in heel veel landen is dat nog niet zo. Dus dit is een soort ver-van-je-bed-show. Van afstand lees je het erge nieuws over de dingen die er in de wereld gebeuren, net als je de poster van afstand pas echt goed kan lezen. Daarna wordt je naar de poster toe gelokt en staat er in het klein 'ever thought about that'. Oftewel je ziet t op tv je leest t in de krant, maar heb je er al echt over nagedacht? Voel je gezegend dat jij in een vrij land leeft en kom tot actie om andere mensen ook in een vrij land te laten leven!
